JOB SUMMARY:

The Penn State Children's Hospital is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one the Best Children's Hospital across multiple specialties. As a designated Level 1 Children's Surgery Center, the hospital is just one of eight in the nation, and the only one in Pennsylvania, to achieve this designation through the American College of Surgeons Children's Surgery Verification Program.

The Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Unit at Penn State Hershey is an 18 bed unit that provides nursing care to patients being cared for by pediatric hematologists and oncologists for pediatric cancer and other blood disorders. Registered Nurses on the unit are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care. Acuity varies to allow for safe, high-quality care of patients receiving chemotherapy/biotherapy and undergoing stem cell transplant. Other services commonly triaged to this unit include pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric nephrology and solid organ transplant.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact required.

BLS required prior to orientation completion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred

Pediatric and/or Hem-Onc experience
