The successful candidate will lead an already well-established comprehensive musculoskeletal service line.
CMSRU’s/CUHC’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery enjoys an excellent reputation for clinical excellence, commitment to Fellowship, Resident and Medical Student education along with a growing research initiative. Candidates must have a combination of leadership skills, management experience, and scholarly accomplishment consistent with the academic rank of Professor. The Chair Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery will work collaboratively with other Cooper Bone and Joint Institute leadership and with CMSRU administrative personnel to ensure continued growth and success for the future.
The Chair/Chief will report to the dean of the medical school for academic matters and to CUHC’s chief physician executive for matters relating to the health system.
The Department of Orthopaedics at Cooper has a comprehensive team providing Orthopaedic Trauma, Joint Replacement, Hand and Upper Extremity, Sports Medicine, Spine, Foot and Ankle, and Orthopaedic Oncology in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. Our skilled and expert staff includes board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic physicians and surgeons, physician assistants, and certified nurse practitioners. Our staff is committed to providing comprehensive orthopaedic care to people of all ages throughout the southern New Jersey and Philadelphia region, and commitment to our Orthopaedic residency and trauma fellowship program.
Board certified physician with an MD or DO from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated excellence in patient care, medical administration, clinical research, and medical education.
Excels in the clinical setting as well as in the contemporary health policy arena.
Experience as a physician leader of inpatient and outpatient orthopaedic department in a health system or complex medical setting.
Entrepreneurial spirit and a strong understanding of organizational dynamics with the communication and interpersonal skills to drive change with clarity in a complex environment.
Anchored by a 663-bed hospital and a Level I trauma center, Cooper University Health Care (CUHC) is a comprehensive academic health system affiliated with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. The successful candidate will, as Chairperson, implement strategic plans for the health system and CMSRU. Academic appointment will be confirmed by Rowan University commensurate with candidate’s experience. The Orthopaedic Department plays a pivotal role in the education and growth of our medical students. The successful candidate will provide leadership in education, research and clinical service.
