Nemours is seeking a Adolescent Medicine Nurse to join our team in Wilmington, DE.
This position is M-F, some evening hours based on department need.
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in the primary care pediatrics practices and allergy practices as directed by providers. The position is responsible for patient flow and assisting providers as necessary with examination, procedures and administration of immunizations which are adapted to the patient's development stage
Performs patient assessments. Provides age and developmentally appropriate care to adolescents. Demonstrates ability and knowledge to develop, provide and document both clinical and non-clinical education to patient and family.
Works collaboratively with physicians, physician assistants and other health care providers in the outpatient area to provide care to patients with a variety of allergy and immunology concerns
Performs and documents patient intake (height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, vision and hearing screening, reason for visit, chief complaint).
Assists providers with obtaining consent for procedures and with procedures, including but not limited to, suturing, suture removal, sterile procedures, minor surgical procedures, gyn exams, catheterizations, nexplanon insertion and removal, and IUD insertion and removal.
Transcribe, collect, label and arrange transport for lab specimens. Performs back office laboratory tests. Discusses normal and abnormal laboratory and radiologic test results with patients and families.
Orders and stocks appropriate inventory of medical-surgical supplies for lab and exam rooms.
Triage patient calls utilizing protocols and nursing judgment. Triage and handle patients/families in crisis. Counsel/triage on period problems, birth control, breast concerns, smoking and drug use, eating disorders, and mental health concerns.
Monitors patient flow including preparing patients and rooms. Monitors waiting room and keeps patients informed as to schedule delays.
Counsel on cause and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Treat STI’s with medications and injectables in the office.
Coordinate and prepare for foster care appointments with necessary records, paperwork, etc.
Demonstrates knowledge of continuous quality improvement.
Computer literate including Epic, Word, Excel, DHIN, Delvax, etc.
Coordinates and enrolls patients in IRB approved study protocols.
Pediatric experience preferred.
Bilingual candidates preferred.
Must have an active DE Nursing license.
Must be willing to obtain PA license.
Outpatient Experience Preferred.
Some travel may be required.
CPR Certification with the American Heart Association Required
