JOB TITLE: Coordinator, Quality and Patient Safety

Responsible for supporting the organizational strategic goals and objectives specifically those related to clinical risk management and patient safety, regulatory performance improvement and quality of health care rendered by the System for the purpose of Peer Review process. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes a team concept and reflects the goal of providing seamless support for patients. Evaluates the quality of health care rendered by the System for the purpose of Peer Review pursuant to 63 P.S. §425.1 et seq. and/or the Mcare Act, as directed by, and as a member of the System's Regulatory Performance Improvement Department, and Peer Review Subcommittee of the Geisinger Health System by evaluating the quality of services ordered or performed by the System's professional healthcare providers including medical audits, ambulatory care reviews and the compliance of GMC, GWV,G-Bloomsburg Hospital and GCMC and any other health care facilities within the System, including Geisinger Clinic and Marworth, which are operated by System health care providers, with the standards set by associations of health care providers and with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
Responsible for coordinating and supporting Regulatory Performance Improvement activities and identifying ongoing data and information system needs as part of the System's Peer Review process. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes a team concept and reflects the goal of providing seamless support for patients. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide high quality and safe patient care and high levels of patient satisfaction. Active participant in Performance Improvement activities and successful Joint Commission and DOH surveys.
Reports to the Regional Manager, Regulatory Performance Improvement.

Demonstrates basic computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
RN with current Pennsylvania licensure or eligibility required. Graduate from an approved school of nursing required.
Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum five years Nursing practice experience in an acute care hospital preferred. Performance improvement experience preferred.
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or other equivalent credential preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
Some travel may be required.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER: (GMC), located Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
