Authority and responsibility for the direction of all nursing clinical activities on ambulatory and inpatient care units. Responsible for the development and implementation of a shared governance philosophy. Responsible for nursing practice, patient care and clinical services which reflect the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Sanford, and promote growth and change while supporting the development of individual practitioners and managers.Responsibility for nursing practice across the entire health care system.Assumes leadership responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinically effective and efficient systems of care and services throughout Sanford. Ensures that the necessary training and education of staff, patients and families is in accordance with all regulatory agencies throughout the continuum of care. Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, supervise or document the care of patients including all age groups. Care will be delivered in accordance with the established standards of performance. Oversees the development and maintenance of nursing policies and procedures. Oversees the preparation and application of departmental budgets. Promotes the use of excellent communication skills to all staff within their areas of responsibility to enhance teamwork and build an effective, efficient organization.
Requires current licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Practitioner, or Registered Nurse in the state, or states, of practice. Certification as a Nurse Administrator preferred. Master's Degree in Nursing required. Must be qualified through at least four years of health care management, training, or experience. Must understand both patient care and nursing issues and must have kept abreast of changes in the profession. Must have integrity and must understand and apply the principles of human behavior and motivation. Must be a management team player with a business mind and attitude. Must be purposefully assertive, being able to articulate own views as well as sensitive to the opinions of others.
